exponential popups...

as per nom's challenge, i've made the popup speed exponentially faster. what's exponential you may ask...

exponential is like... 2,4,16,256,65536,4294967296, ... ... ... basically it's x to the power of x (or xx in plain mathematical writing).

so after 6 milliseconds (1000 milliseconds = 1 second), you get 4294967296 popups!! but all of these are only theories... in reality, the pc wouldn't be able to do it that quick... perhaps there're 50-60 windows after 10 seconds?

well i dunno. i haven't try it but nom did... ask him.

farking spammers

finally those farkers shown up again with spams. i've recorded their IPs and browser info.

it turned out that most of them are from italy. but also some from poland, us and other unresolved ips.

but all of them have a single common thing, which is the browser info. it is:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

i am not very sure if that's the real browser or some sort of spywarez with pre-defined browser version data. anyway, if it's real browser info, then it's WinXP without service pack installed... which means popup blocker is not installed.

so i've put in some filters. if the msg is more than 1000 chars, contains "<h1>", "poker", "viagra", "casino", "debt" and "loans", then it will launch a new browser window to yahoo.com every 1 millisecond. until the pc is out of memory.

so i hope those are real browsers. let's see how it goes...

Spam count resetted

while i tried to clean up those spams and also compress the dB, i accidentally deleted those old msgs. which means spam count has been resetted to 5th Jan 2005.

but on the bright side, dB size has been reduced from 6mb all the way down to 520k. :D

those spamming buggers

due to the recent ads spams by those stupid buggers, i am thinking of a solution.

since i didn't keep track of user's IP and browser version previously, i couldn't pin point the buggers in order to filter them. (well, i could but i wanted more info of them)

at this moment, i will just ignore them and continue to let them spam while i collect more info.

when there's a pattern, then i can easily pin point which msg is spam and which is not.

at this moment, i've identified the pattern as follows:
- message longer than 1000 chars
- with these words: poker, viagra, casino, debt and loans

please bear with me while i collect their IPs and browser info.

added a few new icons

i've added a few new emotional icons...
check them out.

server problem...

it was confirmed by my service provider, that stupid HTTP/1.1 New Session Failed error came from the server itself. nothing wrong with my code.

i've also wrote an official email to them.

dear sir/madam,

as you may have aware of the problem on 202.9.109.2 (www.xetronic.com) with its "HTTP/1.1 New Session Failed" error. the frequency of the problems seems to have increased exponentially for the past month.

it has became very frustrated having to wait for the problem to resolve itself when that happened. therefore i would like to transfer the website to another webserver, unless freenet can pinpoint the problem and solve it within a timely manner.

thank you.

rgds,
freddie
